Camarote Salvador 2025 towards zero waste!

Dedicated to environmental preservation and positive social impact, Camarote Salvador correctly disposed of an impressive 24.6 tons of waste during Carnival, covering the party days and the set-up and dismantling periods. This effort meant an increase of 74% compared to the previous year, when 14.1 tons were recycled, thus avoiding landfill. The recycled materials were sent to the Cana Brava Collectors' Cooperative (CAEC), directly benefiting 75 local families with the income obtained.

Premium Entretenimento, the organizer of Camarote Salvador, has adopted the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its sustainability planning. This commitment aims not only to protect the environment and the climate, but also to eradicate poverty and hunger, and to promote human rights. Kallel Kopp, CEO of Is Eco, the consultancy responsible for sustainability at the event, says: “This plan is a bold step towards a greener and more inclusive carnival... we want to show that it's possible to be sustainable and fun.”

“Our aim is to make Camarote Salvador the most sustainable in the world. The aim is to protect both the environment and people, with actions that contribute before, during and after the party. We were very pleased to increase the results of the previous edition, and we're going to strive to achieve even higher numbers next year,” says Luciana Villas Boas, executive director of Premium Entretenimento.

In all, 23.3 tons of materials were recycled and 1.4 tons of organic waste composted by Camarote Salvador, demonstrating its commitment to the “Zero Waste” objective and alignment with the UN's SDG 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production. In addition, a highlight was the reuse of around 90,000 liters of water from the air conditioners, used to maintain the bathrooms, in line with SDG 6 - Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Generating jobs and income

In line with SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, Camarote Salvador carried out an innovative action by donating 405.5 kg of used tarpaulins to Costura Solidária Sustentável. This project enabled women to make 1,800 bags, raising approximately R$34,000.

For Premium's Sustainability coordinator, Danielle Pires, it is essential to encourage production and value Salvadoran labor. “As well as taking a product from nature that would have no other use, we were able to add value to the work of a group made up of six black women from Salvador. We want to and can act on this combination of environmental and social benefits. We've been proving that Camarote Salvador is much more than a party. We also bring about transformation, and that is very gratifying,” she adds.

Every year, Camarote Salvador creates approximately 5,000 jobs, mainly benefiting the local community. The event has a significant impact on Salvador's economy, generating an estimated economic turnover of R$150 million, taking into account participants' spending on access, tickets, accommodation, food, leisure, transportation and Premium Entretenimento's investments in staging the event.
